Understanding and Overcoming Depression

(N.B. This article follows on from an introduction which you can find HERE)

Clinical Depression OR Chronic Stress?

How are you feeling? Can you relate to how I was feeling?

For years I simply dealt with pressure and on occasions I would dip under the strain that I was feeling and when I dipped I felt miserable and down. Sound familiar? On many occasions the pressure I was under lasted a long time, months and even years, thus the dips I could experience could last a long time too, if, and this is a point to remember, relief wasn’t forthcoming. When relief did show it’s face (usually in the form of hope as opposed to momentous events of instant good fortune) then I would bounce back and my mood would quickly improve.

Regardless of my ‘bouncing back’ I DID believe during my down, miserable, struggling times that I was depressed…and on occasion (3 times) during the most severe of testing moments and usually at the end of an exhausting, difficult period I would indeed seek help by trundling off to the doctor for a chat…whereby he or she would prescribe some form of uplifting anti-depressant, I would then take them for 5 or 6 days, dislike the effect they had on my performance and my mindset (my ego didn’t respond too well), and cease taking them, setting to my recovery on my own and by my own means.

Was I Depressed?

Looking back on what I now know to be true I don’t believe I was in the true sense of the word…I believe I was suffering from the ‘similar’ symptoms associated with Chronic Stress and brought on by ‘chronically’ stressful situations, situations I ‘thought’, that I had little or no control over! Again, sound familiar? There is a difference…a BIG difference between Clinical Depression and lesser conditions…I will share with you what I found out and if you can relate to what I have said in any way I suggest you too investigate further as I did:

Understanding the difference…

This is what I came to learn and understand about ‘Depression’ and Chronic Stress and as you can see from the description taken from Wikipedia below they are vastly differing and as you can plainly see ‘Depression’ covers a multitude of mental conditions…and can develop from many differing ‘seeds’ planted during emotional and/or psychological events…even those which at the time we believed we had dealt with!

Whether we are aware of it or not, If any event, relationship or period of discontentment or unhappiness leaves us in a ‘repressed’ emotional state you can guarantee that its partner in crime ‘depressed’ is lurking not too far away ready to stamp its authority…as is the final member of the life-taking trio ready and waiting in the wings to pounce also – ‘withdrawal’!

Repression > Depression > Withdrawal … do you recognize this in your self…have you existed in a ‘repressed’ state of being (child or adult)? I most certainly existed in this state and through much deliberation and regression I believe I now know ALL of the seeds which propagated and contributed to my loss of primal emotional liberty – from lost love and unsuccessful relationships to enduring stressful periods of unsuited and/or uninspiring employment… even acting out of loyalty and duty to others can and most often will lead to a repressed emotional state of being! Please read on…

Major depressive disorder (MDD) (also known as recurrent depressive disorder, clinical depression, major depression, unipolar depression, or unipolar disorder) is a mental disorder characterized by an all-encompassing low mood accompanied by low self-esteem, and by loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities. This cluster of symptoms (syndrome) was named, described and classified as one of the mood disorders in the 1980 edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s diagnostic manual. The term “depression” is ambiguous. It is often used to denote this syndrome but may refer to other mood disorders or to lower mood states lacking clinical significance. Major depressive disorder is a disabling condition that adversely affects a person’s family, work or school life, sleeping and eating habits, and general health. In the United States, around 3.4% of people with major depression commit suicide, and up to 60% of people who commit suicide had depression or another mood disorder.

Chronic stress is the response to emotional pressure suffered for a prolonged period over which an individual perceives he or she has no control. It involves an endocrine system response in which occurs a release of corticosteroids. If this continues for a long time, it can cause damage to an individual’s physical and mental health.

Simply ‘finding out’ what YOU FEEL you are suffering with will help you immensely as the ‘NOT KNOWING REALLY’ contributes HUGELY to your condition or state of mind no matter what it is! Do you recall these words of wisdom? “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free”…there has never been a ‘truer’ statement made.

Overcoming ‘it’…

Understanding ‘Depression’, ‘Chronic Stress’ or whatever we ‘feel’ we are suffering with or from is one thing, but how on earth do we really overcome these ‘real’ debilitating mental effects we are hampered by without resorting to mind numbing medication or more importantly how do we banish ‘it’ from our lives in the long term and permanently? In my opinion, and I’m sure you will agree, like any illness, ailment or disease it is VITAL that the cause of symptom is addressed or the ‘medicine’ will be futile! Let’s start with this thought: Can you, or do you remember what it is like to feel ‘happy’? Good, of course you can…and that will do very nicely as a start…

So, how do we get to the root cause of any issue or problem?

We investigate the issue and find out everything we can about it and once we really get to the truth i.e. the absolute facts of the situation we can then apply the correct solution and ‘fix’ the problem…that’s how…and solving complex emotional issues that perhaps have been with us lurking in our sub-conscious for years is no different. Thankfully, as I have discovered, and now sharing what I have discovered with you, solving our inner most issues is NO DIFFERENT from solving any other practical issues we may face and literally is JUST ANOTHER PROCESS.

My solution came from following a ‘trail’ of literature and other stimulating information and over a 2 year period I can honestly say hand on heart that I discovered the answer to ALL my unanswered questions, every single last one of them, and with it I was able to liberate myself from ALL the emotional ties and baggage (repression) that had previously restricted and governed my development and chances of reaching my FULL potential as an entrepreneur, a father and a MAN.

I invite and encourage you to follow for yourself the exact same journey I successfully negotiated to great effect, now so simply laid out in the James Allen Institute Concise Road Map to a Greater Understanding, whereby, you’ll encounter a problem solving educational directory that will inspire you, stimulate you, enthuse you and provide you with the correct knowledge, awareness and practical advise to enable you to address and overcome any and every possible personal issue and ‘lack’ you may have, and that includes financial; and the ‘process’ is as simple and as straightforward as can be, in every sense – Guaranteed! NO FRILLS, NO HIDDEN AGENDA … simply a life changing success formula delivering life changing awareness and with it your Birthright. Do you know what your true Birthright is? You will find out very shortly…believe what you read and enjoy the ride of your life.

Very Best Wishes, Kevin and Co.
